This is where we came from, who we are now and the people that make TRB special.

The Irish are one of the many proud heritages that make up New Jersey's past, present and future. A large portion of New Jersey's population can claim Irish ancestry and Toms River is home to the most. We celebrate the rich history of Toms River and our diverse local community.  2018 Jim Mulligan and Augie Isernia purchased the brewery, and Toms River Brewing was born. His vision is to explore a wide range of beer styles through expanded yeast and hop selection and to create the ultimate local hangout spot for beer affionados.

In 2020, professional brewer and Toms River native Matt Hynes was hired as Operations Manager. With his vast experience at different craft breweries around the US, Matt has instilled in the brewery the motto of "we want to make the best beer possible and the rest will fall into place" as the guiding principle that leads every decision the brewery makes.

Matt was first bitten by the craft beer bug that turned into his passion while on active duty in the United States Navy Seabees stationed in Southern California. He came back east and was able to break into the industry while finishing his degree. He worked his way up in the industry, through a dedication to not only the craft but the quality as well.

"I was very fortunate to have worked for Ballast Point Brewing and Oskar Blues Brewery to now bringing it all back home as the VP of Brewery Operations at Toms River Brewing."  "Quality control, consistency and efficiency are paramount in his book while of course having fun doing it, we are making beer after all. To me beer isn't just a drink; beer is human history in a glass, beer is art and science, it's ever-changing. Beer is present for the good times and bad times, there's a beer and style of beer out there for every occasion and palate. It's a living thing and should be treated as such in its own right."

Steeped in American-Irish Tradition, Toms River Brewing blends time-honored brewing methods with innovation and modern beer chemistry to produce our unique portfolio of styles. Raise a glass- we can all be a little Jersey Irish. Slainté!
